Texas has 31 community-based MHMR centers with components that employ specialists in the delivery of services to persons with all categories of developmental disabilities. The law enforcement officer should develop a working relationship with at least one person in the closest facility in order to have a resource when needed. In addition, many communities will have a local chapter of the Autism Society of America (ASA). The following contact information may prove to be useful:
